- Support the development and implementation of strategies to strengthen Maori Crown relationships.
- Provide high-quality advice on Maori Crown relations, including Iwi/Maori Accords and relationship agreements.
- Apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles to ensure equity and Treaty obligations are embedded in all work.
- Support governance and ministerial relationships to align Maori health priorities across the Ministry and health sector.
- Facilitate effective communication with stakeholders using diverse engagement channels.
Key Responsibilities:
You will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with whanau, hapu, Iwi, Maori communities, and key stakeholders.
- Provide high-quality advice on Maori Crown relations, including Iwi/Maori Accords and relationship agreements.
- Apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles to ensure equity and Treaty obligations are embedded in all work.
- Support governance and ministerial relationships to align Maori health priorities across the Ministry and health sector.
- Facilitate effective communication with stakeholders using diverse engagement channels.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent stakeholder, iwi, and Maori community engagement experience.
- Ability to operate in te ao Maori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Maori.
- Knowledge and experience in Maori Crown relations, Treaty settlement relationships, Maori health or a relevant field.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
