This exciting opportunity is for a Maori Crown Engagement Specialist to join our team at the New Zealand Government. As a key advisor, you will support the development and implementation of policies and programs that promote Māori health and well-being.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with iwi and Māori communities to understand their needs and aspirations.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve Māori health outcomes.
- Providing advice and guidance to government agencies and other stakeholders on Māori Crown relations and Treaty obligations.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, Māori organizations, and government agencies.
- Collaborating with other teams to develop and implement policy and program initiatives that promote Māori health and well-being.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent stakeholder, iwi, and Māori community engagement experience.
- Ability to operate in te ao Māori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Māori.
- Knowledge and experience in Māori Crown relations, Treaty settlement relationships, Māori health or a relevant field.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
