About the Role

As a forward-thinking, future-focused Strategic Finance Leader at Hato Hone St John, you will lead a team responsible for enabling the achievement of our financial objectives.

You will report to the Deputy Chief Executive Finance and Business Insights and provide strategic financial advice, expertise, and insight to ensure resources are targeted towards high-priority outcome areas and deliver value for money.

The role is responsible for embedding best practice financial planning processes and business partnering. Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead the development and execution of the financial business partnership strategy to support delivery of strategic aims through effective financial decision making.
  • Leadership, guidance, and coaching of Finance Business Partnering (FBP) and the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams, maintaining positive momentum of personal/professional development and ensuring overall team objectives are met.
  • Build and maintain relationships of credibility with the Executive Leadership Team, acting on an informed understanding of the business and the external environment to provide articulate, informed finance advice and support.
  • Oversee budgeting, planning, and forecasting processes, financial analysis, and integrated performance reporting.
  • Support decision-making with robust financial models, projections, and scenarios to meet long-term sustainable financial plans and short-term needs.
  • Develop strategic business cases that align with organisational goals and translate financial data into actionable insights.

  • Membership of CAANZ or equivalent
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within a large complex organisation with demonstrable experience in leading and driving improved financial outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills and a leader of leaders
  • Proven ability in developing relationships across a business and the ability to influence at senior levels and diverse stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge and experience in best practice financial planning processes (budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial planning), developing business cases, and strategic scenario analysis
  • Strong strategic capability, change management practice, and commercial acumen
Location and Salary

This role is based in New Zealand, offering a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, depending on experience.
