**Overview**

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialist Physician in Geriatric Medicine to join our team at Whangarei Hospital. Our hospital is a 250-bed district hospital with all major specialties, providing a wide range of medical services to the community.

 

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is between $120,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.

 

Job Description

We provide healthcare for Older People across Northland, covering an area of 12,600 square kilometres with a population of 170,000. Our team offers an Acute Care of the Elderly service in ED, as well as an Assessment and Rehabilitation ward with a full multidisciplinary team.

We have outpatient clinics on five sites across Northland, including inpatient orthogeriatric services, fracture liaison, and perioperative services. Our service is well supported by community rehabilitation teams, a region-wide needs assessment service, and Gerontology nurse specialists.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to be eligible or able to achieve eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. We welcome applications from Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine who are due to complete their training within six months.
