At Taituara, we're seeking a highly skilled Public Relations Specialist to join our Communications and Engagement team. As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing innovative communication strategies that enhance our engagement with diverse audiences.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling and has exceptional writing skills. You'll craft compelling content, manage media relations, and develop strategies to showcase our creativity and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies for Council projects and initiatives
  • Manage and create engaging content for digital platforms, including social media and the Council website
  • Provide expert advice to internal teams and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, the media, and the community

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications or journalism, or at least two years' experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and an understanding of the local media and political landscape
  • Strong time management, research, and collaboration skills
