Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative communication strategies for Council projects and initiatives.
  • Manage and create engaging content for digital platforms, including social media and the Council website.
  • Provide expert advice to internal teams and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, the media, and the community.
  • Identify and address communication risks, ensuring proactive, positive engagement.

You Will Bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications or journalism, or at least two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and an understanding of the local media and political landscape.
  • Strong time management, research, and collaboration skills.
  • A proactive attitude with a flair for creative problem-solving and innovation.
