When nature thrives, we all thrive.Reporting to the Kaihautu, Treaty Partnerships Advice and Oversight, the Treaty Relationships Advice Manager is responsible for leading the advice, coordination, planning and reporting to support nationally led iwi relationships.
The role will largely focus on the Ngai Tahu relationship, and you will also be expected to provide general advice and some support for other Treaty Partner relationships.The key areas of focus in this role will be supporting Senior Managers, Treaty Partner Engagement, and People leadership.
The role is an opportunity to manage a work programme, so your ability to influence and support will be critical.You'll bring a deep understanding of the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Maori Crown relationship, and the obligations of the Crown under the Treaty of Waitangi.
We need someone who enjoys the challenge of keeping across multiple work programmes, and looking for win-win opportunities for DOC and Treaty Partners.
You'll be knowledgeable about the range of current Maori views, and aware of the differences between Maori and non-Maori world views, and how to access more knowledge.You'll have outstanding communication and relationship management skills, including experience working with senior managers, iwi and tangata whenua.A sound understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga and te reo will be key to enable you to engage and work in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
