Nga kawenga | About the role The Senior Adviser Kaupapa Maori Supervisor plays a crucial role in the Department of Corrections, specifically in the development, implementation, and management of Kaupapa Maori supervision and practice delivery for program facilitators and psychologists.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
Working closely with other managers to provide support for Kaupapa Maori supervision.Ensuring that the Kaupapa Maori elements of programs are effectively implemented.Advising the Psychology and Programmes National Office teams on Te Ao Maori methodologies.Guiding program design and practice to achieve positive outcomes for Maori.Undergoing training in Te Ara Tauwhaiti (Kaupapa Maori cultural supervision framework) and engaging in Kaupapa Maori supervision.Co-facilitating training programs.Proficiently navigating Kaupapa Maori models and frameworks.Supporting special projects related to Kaupapa Maori Practice development.Completing administrative tasks such as report writing within agreed timeframes.In this role, you will build and nurture strong relationships, demonstrating innovation, critical thinking, and leadership abilities to develop and deliver effective human-centered solutions.
You will utilise your extensive experience or training in program facilitation, Maori cultural supervision, counselling, social work, or a related social service field, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
A solid understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) and its application to Kaupapa Maori Practice will be essential.
Leveraging your deep knowledge of Maori issues, Te Ao Maori (Maori worldview), matauranga Maori (Maori knowledge systems), and Tikanga Maori (Maori customs and protocols), you will confidently provide Kaupapa Maori supervision.
Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, you will showcase excellent computer skills.
Your strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and relationship management skills, will make you an outstanding fit for this role.
The full salary range is $101,162 - $142,816.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
