PIP collaborates with local partners and stakeholders to develop and distribute user-friendly learning resources in various formats, including audio, visual, print, and digital platforms like YouTube.
With a focus on inclusive and equitable development, PIP aims to empower communities by providing accessible information that fosters sustainable livelihoods and transformative change.
Their holistic approach to resource distribution ensures that people across the Pacific can benefit from valuable knowledge and skills to manage natural resources effectively.The AssignmentThis assignment is a partnership assignment between VSA and Pacific Island Projects (PIP).This assignment offers an exciting opportunity to support Pacific Island Projects (PIP) in enhancing their digital communications and expanding their reach across the Pacific region.
The volunteer will work collaboratively with the Managing Director, Audience Engagement Coordinator, and staff to refine PIP's online communication strategy, develop engaging content, and build capacity in digital marketing and website management.
By providing mentoring and training in content creation, social media engagement, and analytics reporting, the volunteer will help PIP increase visibility and connect more effectively with their diverse stakeholders.The role involves strengthening PIP's ability to share educational and sustainable forestry resources widely through digital platforms, including social media, blogs, videos, and newsletters.
The volunteer's expertise in communication strategy, digital tools, and audience engagement will be key to amplifying PIP's impact and ensuring communities have greater access to valuable information.

VSA Volunteers are technical experts who impart their skills and knowledge to the local community.
You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, resilient with a passion for Aotearoa and the wider Pacific community.
We're looking for a volunteer who is able to volunteer remotely and has the following skills and experience:A qualification and/or experience in Communications, Digital Media Design, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field, ideally in an international development or non-profit context.Strong mentoring and capacity-building skills, with the ability to support team members effectively.Expertise in developing and implementing communication strategies.Proficiency in Facebook Ads, Posts and Campaigns.Proficiency in WordPress-based CMS.Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Canva.Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork.Ability to extract, streamline, and communicate information gathered from multiple sources, ensuring it is accessible and easily understood by partners and stakeholders.This includes the competence to clarify details in a comprehensible manner, catering to diverse audiences.Ability to remain informed about the latest developments and trends in the digital landscape.
This includes the ability to adapt and incorporate cost-effective AI solutions where applicable to enhance digital strategies and initiatives.Important note: Due to our VSA funding requirements, our volunteers must be a NZ citizen or NZ Permanent Resident to progress further in our recruitment process.The Country - Papua New GuineaMost people living in Papua New Guinea (PNG) are Melanesian, but some are Micronesian or Polynesian.
PNG has over 800 known languages although there are three official languages: Tok Pisin, English, and Hiri Motu.
Numerous indigenous languages are still used by people from a society that ranges from traditional village-based life to modern urban living.Underlying the Papua New Guinean culture is the wantok system.
