Student Interest and Conflict Resolution AdviserTe Herenga Waka-Victoria University of WellingtonListed 2 days agoLocation: Wellington, WellingtonJob type: Full timeDuration: PermanentApproximate pay: $70K - $100K annuallyCompany benefits: Benefits include UniSaver and Southern CrossDescriptionDo you enjoy working in a varied and dynamic environment?Are you a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder?Have you got experience in triage, behavioural risk assessment and complex case management?Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Student Interest and Conflict Resolution Adviser to join the Tauria - Student Interest and Conflict Resolution team in Te Purengi - Student Experience and Wellbeing.The role will be responsible for supporting the work of the Manager, Tauria - Student Interest and Conflict Resolution to manage student issues, behavioural risks, concerns, and complaints to support a safe and inclusive community.Key responsibilities:Provide guidance and assistance to students and staff in areas of student safety, behavioural risk, interpersonal conflict, and other student concerns.Effectively gather and assess information, as required, to ensure that concerns, complaints, and conflict involving students are resolved at the earliest, and where appropriate, at the most informal level.Undertake complex case and complaints management, behavioural risk assessment, and interventions to support behaviour change.Respond to sexually harmful behaviours to ensure students are aware of their support and reporting options, in an appropriate and timely manner.
Provide facilitation and conflict resolution where appropriate to assist the student and staff community to address concerns through alternative avenues.Training and delivery of educational sessions under the direction of the Manager, Tauria - Student Interest and Conflict Resolution to contribute to safe and respectful communities.This role is extremely rewarding for the individual who enjoys problem-solving and innovative approaches to respond to harm and conflict.The ideal candidate will:Be an excellent communicator and enthusiastic problem solver who brings an empathetic and organised approach to complex interpersonal issues.Enjoy working in a varied and dynamic environment.Thrive in this role if you enjoy working with people.Have an ability to influence and manage conflict, attention to detail, and self-management skills.Be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes navigating complex situations to achieve positive outcomes.Have effective time management and forward planning to balance competing demands.Maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff.Have the ability to remain calm under pressure.Thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholders.Key requirements:Experience in triage, behavioural risk assessment, and complex case management.Experience and demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and complaints management.Strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated relationship building skills.Demonstrated ability to work effectively under limited supervision, including the ability to prioritise tasks, make defensible decisions, meet deadlines, and manage unpredictable workload and challenges of the role.Proven ability to work with a wide range of students/staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.Proven understanding of and commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.To view further information such as the role description, please click apply and this will direct you to the University career's page where extra links will be available for you to view.
