About the Role As an experienced Alcohol and drug clinician, you will play a key role in an intensive, personalised, Māori led and clinically underpinned response to the health, cultural and social needs of approximately 70 tāngata whaiora and their whānau in the Waikato region.
This group of tāngata whaiora who have been identified as having high needs, and who are not getting these needs met by the current service system are predominately Māori (about 70 per cent).
'High need' has been defined as a mixture of mental health and addiction problems, physical health conditions, and disability combined with significant impairment and disadvantage across a range of social, psychological, behavioural, occupational and interpersonal domains.
Day to day you will assess the client's readiness to change and assess immediate risk and safety concerns.
You will design, implement and evaluate a range of alcohol and drug groups and educational programs matched to the strengths, needs, characteristics preferences and goals of participants.

About the Team Our success is driven by the ability and willingness to liaise and work alongside Kaimahi across the Waikato region, internally and externally, to provide a flexible community-based multi-disciplinary, intensive treatment and rehabilitation service for tāngata whaiora and their whānau.

For more information on living and working in Waikato click here About you * Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
* Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
* Bachelor level qualification eligible for DAPAANZ full registration.
* Minimum of 5 years work experience working with high need individuals and or whanau experiencing significant mental health and addiction problems.
* A strong desire to work from a te ao Māori perspective, acknowledging contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives.
* Current full drivers license.
