We operate by land, sea, and air, manage over 860,000 emergency calls a year and are always actively preventing crime and crashes.About the Role:The Covert Online Investigation Team (COLT) is currently seeking Police employees to join the team as an Authorised Officer.
As an Investigator, you will lead and support investigations into cyber-enabled Organised Crime and Online Child Exploitation.Successful applicants will have the unique opportunity to contribute to a specialised investigative capability by enhancing tradecraft, developing covert engagement methods, and identifying new investigative techniques.COLT is looking for investigators who are self-motivated, passionate, have a positive mindset, and are capable of thinking outside the box when problem-solving.
They must be proactive in identifying opportunities to disrupt cyber-enabled Organised Crime and Online Child Exploitation.This role is unique as online offending is borderless and requires investigators to build effective relationships with both domestic and international law enforcement partners.
The role requires the highest level of integrity and an interest in covert policing.
The position is subject to rotation based on COLT operational demands and individual development.Key Accountabilities:• Partnerships: Foster and maintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders.• United: Supports and leads Online Child Exploitation and Organised Crime investigations.• Prioritisation: Manage support to investigations and time effectively.• Professionalism: Takes pride in representing the New Zealand Police and making a difference in the communities we serve.• Innovation: Contributes to the development of New Zealand Police online capabilities, tradecraft, and best practices.• Decision Making: Ability to manage complex and sensitive investigations and make sound decisions to reduce harm.• Courageous State of Mind: Ability to contribute and engage in transformational change and lead by example in accordance with Our Values.What You'll Bring:We are looking for skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the role.
