We weave sustainability into everything we do, actively and continually considering all four elements of tourism sustainability – economic, visitor, community and the environment.About the roleWe are looking for a Member Advocate – Adventure & Conservation to lead, influence and deliver tangible benefits to our members, the tourism industry and Aotearoa New Zealand. You'll play an important role in engaging with, and advocating on behalf of, our members to ensure their voice is heard.You'll work directly with our members (tourism businesses and service providers), to identify and facilitate solutions for issues they are facing, and supplying information, advice and other services that are highly valued. You will be responsible for ensuring high levels of engagement and dialogue with our members so that TIA remains well-informed of the issues, challenges and opportunities facing our members.Alongside your team you will provide appropriate problem resolution, advocacy and support. Specifically, you’ll be responsible for supporting our adventure members and members with Department of Conservation concessions. You’ll work with our Sustainability Manager to advance Tourism 2050 goals and coordinate member interest groups including sustainability.As a key public face of TIA you will be integral in driving our value proposition for our membership. You will have excellent relationship management skills and be comfortable communicating in a range of environments and a variety of audiences.About youIdeally, we're looking for someone who has a broad knowledge and experience of working within the tourism industry and 5 years’ experience in a similar role.You’ll have experience working within the wider adventure, conservation or sustainability sectors.You will be an excellent communicator, calm under pressure and a steady pair of hands for our members.You will be a natural relationship builder, able to quickly establish rapport and build long term lasting relationships.You’ll understand how government works – existing valuable relationships across central or local government would be beneficial.You can approach problems with innovative solutions and effectively influence outcomes.If you have other experience than what we’ve described above that you think would be a good fit then let us know.TIA has a collaborative team culture and is a flexible, supportive and fun place to work.
