Are you a strategic thinker with a strong background in data and business analysis? Are you passionate about using data to drive decision making and support continuous improvement? If so, we'd love for you to join us at Open Polytechnic as a Lead Analyst - Analytics & Insights.
In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders and the Strategic Insights Team to provide actionable insights to drive change, influence strategic decisions, and improve learner outcomes. With your expertise in both business and data analysis, you'll be essential in transforming complex challenges into clear, data-backed solutions. As a senior member of the team, you will provide guidance to other analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality research, analysis, and insights.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in the Vocational Education Sector
- Proven expertise in business analysis and data analysis , with experience using data-driven methods to support strategic decision making
- An analytical based degree with a focus on critical thinking and knowledge of research methodologies
The ideal candidate will be competent working with:
- Microsoft data visualisation & analysis tools (Power BI, Excel, SSMS)
- SQL programming languages
- Predictive modelling and machine learning approaches

- Strong business analysis skills, including the ability to break down business processes, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
- Expertise in data analysis, with a deep understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods to derive strategic insights.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to present complex data and business insights in a clear and impactful manner.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders on often complex, conflicting and ambiguous issues.
- Personal integrity, sound judgement and an honest and ethical approach.
- Demonstrates a commitment to equity, equal employment and educational opportunities.
- Cultural capability skills and commitment to implementation of the Treaty of Waitangi as it applies to the education sector.
