**About the Team**

The Corporate Counsel will sit within the Asia Pacific Risk Management team, which is highly respected in the business. The lawyers are spread across New Zealand and Australia, and they report to the APAC General Counsel, Josie Lewis who is based in Christchurch.

You will be responsible for supporting the Stantec New Zealand business but may have the opportunity to support the Australia business from time to time.

**About the Role**

The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for:

- Advising on Stantec’s project engagements - including contract review, negotiation, and risk management practices.
- Claims and dispute management.
- Development and implementation of policies and procedures relevant to legal and governance matters.
- Advising on legislative compliance in New Zealand and the Pacific.
- Management of external law firms.
- Training on legal and governance matters to Stantec employees.
- Providing high quality strategic advice on the legal risks and issues associated with Stantec’s business in New Zealand.

**About You**
- Approximately 8 years of general commercial law experience gained in a quality legal firm environment, or in house.
- Current New Zealand practicing certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
- A good understanding of legal and commercial aspects of contracts, with a specific focus on engineering consultancy or construction projects.
- Demonstrated capability in advanced contract management and administration.
- Advanced negotiating skills claims management experience and understanding of detailed contract provisions.
- Experience on D&C projects.
