**About the venue**

The Foundry is the University of Canterbury Students Association’s famed student bar. It is situated within our purpose built and multi-award winning event venue, Haere-roa on the University of Canterbury’s campus. Haere-roa houses various function and events spaces including the Ngaio Marsh theatre which attracts some of the best local and international acts to Christchurch.

The Foundry supports all of Haere-roa's spaces with bar service at events. This includes large scale events such as Toga Party [1,500pax], Summer Stein [3,000pax] Mardi Gras [3,500pax], and Tea Party [4,000pax].

The Foundry is open daily from Monday - Friday, and during weekends to align with events.

**About the role**

The Venue Manager is responsible for the management and operation of The Foundry. This includes effectively and efficiently managing the bar and bar staff to ensure profitability, whilst maintaining a strong level of service to our predominately student customer base. The Venue Manager also supports UCSA-run student and commercial events, ranging from smaller corporate gatherings through to large multi-day conferences. At large scale events, the Venue Manager takes the lead as Duty Manager and is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the UCSA Health & Safety Policy, Food Control Plans, Smoke Free Environment Act and the sale and supply of alcohol and the premise’s liquor license.

This is a permanent full time, 40 hour per week position.

**About you**

**Your Qualifications**:

- Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ)
- Must hold a General Managers Certificate
- Full NZ Class 1 Drivers’ Licence

**Your Experience**:

- 2-5 years of on the job training in a food & beverage venue
- At least 3 years’ experience in Bar / Event Management

**Personal attributes**:

- Excellent leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Honest and reliable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct him or herself in a positive and professional manner at all times
- Well-developed organisational, delegation and supervisory skills
- Ability to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure
- Self-motivated, proactive with excellent time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility with work hours

**The UCSA**

The University of Canterbury Students’ Association Incorporated (UCSA) is a not-for-profit organisation with charity status. Fourteen elected student representatives govern the UCSA with the support and guidance of external advisors via an Advisory Board. Over 250 full time, part time and casual staff report through to the Chief Executive. We offer many services to ensure that the university experience for students at UC is all that it can be.
