The role provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a difference in their community. The main purpose is to lead, coordinate, and assist in planning and reporting processes and corporate projects. The focus will be on developing the next Long-Term Plan. You'll have the chance to work on diverse and challenging issues in a beautiful region, making a real impact on the lives of people in the Waikato. You'll also have the opportunity to enhance the council's profile through community and regional relationships.
- Play an instrumental role in delivering council’s next Long Term Plan.
- Provide advice to the council around legislative requirements and support the council’s consultation and performance reporting.
- Lead identification of legislative changes and best practice in planning and reporting and operationalise findings.
- Prepare reports and submissions.
- Fulfil the strategic and corporate planning functions of Waikato Regional Council.

- The ability to interpret legislation and an understanding of the Local Government Act.
- An articulate and compelling communicator with strong writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent strategic and tactical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated success at building relationships and working collaboratively with diverse groups.
- An eye for detail - with a high degree of accuracy when undertaking tasks.
- A constructive team member who actively contributes to the positive culture of the team.
- Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work commitments.

- _A relevant degree qualification in policy, planning, law, resource management, environmental management or similar. _
