**Qualifications**:
- Graduate qualification in environmental planning, natural resource management or environmental science
**Experience**:
- Proven people leadership and management skills
- Applied experience in working with the Resource Management Act, preferably in a regulatory environment
- Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills
- Proven ability to influence / persuade and guide
- Ability to manage and deliver in an environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing
- Excellent communication skills
**About the role**:
The Team Leader provides management and operational leadership to the team that delivers specialist technical support across the resource consent function, including business improvement and external delivery. The role forms part of the leadership team for the Regional Consents Section and supports the directorate to deliver on the Council’s regulatory functions. This role has 5 - 6 direct reports.
**Responsibilities**:
- Overseeing a diverse group of specialist roles including Principal and Senior Advisors, improvement specialists, Duty Planners and management of contracted consent planners.
- Leading the team by ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently to resolve complex issues involved with resource use
- Leading the continuous improvement portfolio and contracted work delivery for the Regional Consents section
- Preparation of annual strategy for team
- Oversight of queries and information requests, databases and reporting.
- Manage and monitor the team’s workload and financial targets
