**The Opportunity**

This is a stimulating and challenging leadership role where your ability to collaborate and influence a 24/7 operational environment will be valued. Your astute ability to understand people and process and technology impacts and improvements (without working in or owning IT systems) will make a meaningful difference to the electricity sector and Aotearoa New Zealand.

As Head of Operations Process and Technology Improvement, you'll join our Operations Senior Leadership Team and work closely with our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division, on the technology plans required to support the power system and ensure the appropriate prioritisation and effective delivery of Operations' requirements.

Leading a team of six (a geographically dispersed total team of 21) you will:

- Act as the 'translator' between the needs of the Operations Division and the IST delivery process. You'll support business owners within the Operations division to achieve the improvements in grid and system operations tools and services required.
- Drive efficiency, lift service capability and lower cost to Transpower and the industry through the adoption of technologies, automation, and process improvement.
- Guide effective change management that delivers performance enhancements which are required in Operations to keep pace with the high rate of change impacting our industry and consumers.
- Manage the OPTI investment budget (to deliver required projects on time and within budget. You'll work closely with the IST leadership team on the prioritisation of broader funding for Operations projects.

**What will you bring?**

You'll have a relevant tertiary qualification and process improvement certification/qualification underpinned by the ability to strive for positive outcomes and results by developing and delivering improvement initiatives through others.

**Known for your perceptiveness, and ability to work at pace, your CV and cover letter will clearly articulate**:

- Demonstrable line management experience of technical and/or operational people.
- You will have provided clear governance within your team, accurate metrics, and well considered risk mitigation information and solutions to appropriate organisational governance boards and bodies.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and verbal and written communication skills to work across multiple teams/ groups, including with the IST leadership and broader divisions.
- A track record in seeking out, articulating, and delivering process improvements aided by technologies.
- Previous ability to envision and develop strategy collaboratively, particularly in relation to digital and information services, and technology strategies more generally.
- Strong portfolio management skills.
