We are currently seeking to employ a Power Systems Technician to provide a specialist technical power systems and electricity protection to the company's Power Services Division.

About the Role

Come join our amazing team in Mt. Wellington

Conducting tests on transmission power transformers of above 33kV maximum voltage and above 10 MVA.
Conducting maintenance and/or commissioning tests on instrument transformers.
Conducting maintenance and/or commissioning tests on high voltage power cable & terminals up to 220kV.
Conducting maintenance tests on high voltage rotating plant.
Conducting acceptance and maintenance tests on distance protection relays.
Repairing and testing protection relays.
Using and maintaining test instruments used within the HV electricity industry.
Conducting tests on distribution oil filled power transformers 33kV max voltage & below 10 MVA.
Jointing, terminating, testing and commissioning specialist communications cables systems.
Carrying out maintenance work to client specifications.
Installing/maintaining substation and other high voltage equipment, as per job instructions and specifications, meeting current regulations and standards.
Responding to emergency fault breakdown work within planned response times.
Commissioning, servicing and/or repairing communication systems between electricity supply substations.
Conducting inspections and servicing tests on control instrumentation and indication hardwired system.
Conducting insulating oil sampling and voltage break down tests.
Conducting commissioning and maintenance tests on multiple input protection systems.
Managing electricity supply work control systems.

About you

National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Power Technician) Level 5 or similar with two years or more post qualification experience
A tertiary qualification at a polytechnic diploma level is required.
Hands-on experience in power systems and electrical protection work to industry standards.
Knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Sound computer skills
High voltage protection system commissioning experience and confidence to make decisions autonomously
A valid full Class 2, New Zealand driver's license preferred
