Manager, Operational Technologies

As an expert with extensive hands-on experience in managing teams of engineers, technicians as well as experience managing a business unit, the OT Manager is responsible for all activities involving the growth and ongoing operations of OT business in NZ with emphasis on electricity generation, transmission and distribution businesses.
**The OT Manager will**:
- Deliver sustainable revenue growth from a diverse group of clients in a way that is consistent with PSC’s strategic principles and corporate objectives
- Develop PSC’s skills, capabilities and service offerings aligned with market requirements through internal development, recruitment and market engagement
- Lead and manage the performance of a team of consultants based across multiple PSC sites
- Support other PSC regions in the development of regional markets and capabilities and
- Ensure that PSC transfers knowledge within the OT team effectively
**Key Accountabilities / Essential Job Outcomes**
At a high level the role is expected to provide strategic and facilitate technical guidance to PSC Group clients, consultants, management and be:
- Billable Consulting services (approximately 40%)
- Business development and sales (approximately 30%)
- People and business management (approximately 30%)
The objectives of this role are to manage and grow the OT Consulting business by leading a team of consultants within the New Zealand business.
**The role covers four main areas of responsibility:**

(1) Business development and sales_**
- Achieve revenue and sales targets for OT Consulting services
- Identify and develop opportunities within PSC’s existing and potential client base
- Prepare methodologies and hours estimates for service proposals
- Develop relationships within existing and prospective PSC client organizations that can benefit from the service offerings
- Support the pursuit of global opportunities that require PSC expertise
- Represent PSC in industry forums, working groups and conference
- Identify and quantify market trends that require capability
- Develop service offerings and relevant marketing materials that reflect the specific and evolving needs of the market; and
- Maintain CRM entries for OT opportunities

(2) Consulting services_**
- Engage with key technical people within client organizations to ensure PSC OT services are meeting client expectations
- Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness
- Independently complete complex consulting projects that fall within the OT consulting service offering
- Act as or nominate technical lead and/or reviewer for consulting engagements within the service offering
- Coordinate and finalize the delivery of complex engineering consulting advice requiring multiple consultants and/or groups from within the PSC Group
- Manage time, scope and budget of assigned jobs and
- Support and enable revenue growth in other PSC regions by providing specialist advice as and when requested
**_ (3) People management_**
- Achieve team utilization targets
- Conduct annual and quarterly performance reviews and updates with direct reports
- Provide ongoing technical and professional guidance to individual team members
- Define recruitment needs for ongoing work load
- Mentor, coach and develop junior engineers/consultants
- Help direct reports resolve employment related questions and concerns and
- Arrange, prepare and, where appropriate, deliver specialist industry training and coaching to consultants in line with individual and company objectives

(4) Business unit management_**
- Contribute to preparation of annual business development and operational team budget for the OT business
- Prepare monthly report of team activities
- Prepare monthly report of BD budget expenditure
- Prepare end-of-year performance report
- Contribute to weekly sales and operations reports
- Contribute to annual APAC and OT&MS business planning exercise and
- Participate and contribute to PSC Group initiatives.
**Your background**
- Bachelor’s degree and suitable experience in utility sector
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering and industry experience
- Prior people management experience including involvement in the evaluating, recruiting and training of team members
- Strong working experience with power industry specific systems
- Performing or creating training programs and mentoring junior level team members
