About the role

The NZ Police Cyber Security Centre is expanding. We are seeking two highly motivated people to fill the role of Cyber Security advisor. Security risk assessments (SRA) and certification and accreditation (C&A) are both critical components to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all Police systems. As an advisor in either one of these roles, you will be responsible for conducting complex risk assessment activities, across a diverse range of technology solutions. You will directly engage with other key business stakeholders to move projects and products in the right direction and ensure they meet NZ Police certification and accreditation requirements.

Please note there are two roles available. One is a single year fixed term opportunity, the other is a full-time permanent role. Preferences will be taken into consideration.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Working with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
- Understanding cyber security and wider technological risks and identifying appropriate controls to mitigate those risks
- Solid understanding of cyber security frameworks, principles and strategies
- Experience in cyber security and / or other ICT related fields
- Leading innovative ways of thinking
- Supporting and delivering certification and accreditation requirements in support of projects and other product teams
- A strong sense of time management and an ability to alternate pieces of work in various stages
- A strong sense of self awareness and alignment to Our Values

- A strong cyber security or ICT background with demonstrated leadership, initiative, and innovation
- Relevant industry certification such as CISSP, GIAC, CompTIA+ and/or relevant tertiary qualification desirable
- An understanding of NZ Police risk management framework
- A solid understanding of risk management processes and procedures
- A high level of commitment to quality and service, with emphasis on continuous improvement and seeking excellent
- Well-developed communication skills, verbal and written
- Live “Our Values” and lead “Our Business” aspirations
- Have or be able to obtain and maintain a Government Top Secret Security Clearance

This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them.”
