SH1 Papakura to Drury - Stage 1B1 is part of a staged upgrade to improve SH1 and adjacent multi modal travel reliability, access, and safety. Part of Auckland’s Supporting Growth Programme and funded by the New Zealand Upgrade Programme (NZUP), Stage 1B1 combines with Stage 1A (in progress), and a consented Stage 1B2, to complete the upgrade of 6km of SH1 to three lanes in both directions, including 8 bridges, improvements to interfacing local roads, new Shared User Paths (SUPs), and upgraded utilities including improved stormwater treatment.

Fulton Hogan is committed to ensuring people work within a culture of positive health and safety, with the processes, tools and training they need to consistently operate safely while meeting the needs of our business and project requirements. Reporting to the Project Director, you will play a key part in coaching and leading a project culture that holds safety as a core value. You will have a dotted line to our National Health and Safety Manager, Construction Division, and he will be your connection to the wider H&S team within the business.

In this role you will have the opportunity to liaise with a range of stakeholders, with the intention of ensuring that all works undertaken on-site meet national legislative standards, ensuring that everyone on site is competent, capable and equipped to carry out their roles. You will be working with some of the best in the business and will be given mentoring opportunities and the chance to grow in your role.

We’re looking for someone with:

- The confidence to deliver messages and present at toolboxes, to groups large and small
- At least 5 years’ solid practical experience in a Health and Safety role preferably in the Construction industry
- Enjoy being out on site at the ‘coal face’ of the physical works
- Ability to engage and influence to achieve positive outcomes
- Can communicate effectively with all levels of staff and subcontractors
- Will deliver the paperwork/compliance side of H&S to a high standard and have high computer literacy
- Have an understanding of heavy plant/equipment and civil construction methodology
- Knowledge of safety regulatory compliance and systems requirements
- Incident investigation and report writing skills.
