Senior H&S role working across multiple processing operations
- Drive H&S continuous improvement across the Group
- Develop, organise & coordinate staff training
**About the opportunity**
This is senior leadership role responsible for all Health & Safety across the Group’s multiple processing operations. This business has stood the test of time but has not remained stagnant, with major investment underway through plant upgrades and acquisition. Due to the ongoing growth of the business this new role has been established to drive ongoing improvement to their H&S systems and outcomes.
**What will you be doing?**
Here is an opportunity to make your mark in a large and challenging working environment. This is not a box ticking role. Instead you will take the lead, influencing a positive safety culture across multiple operating units to ensure a high level of safety awareness and incident prevention, including monitoring, analysing and reporting on safety, compliance and risk management.
This will include:
- Developing engaged relationships with the management and operations teams to champion a health and safety-focused culture.
- Managing, implementing and communicating the health and safety framework, improvement initiatives as well as the company and legislative requirements.
- Driving hazard, near miss reporting and completion of investigations and safe behaviour initiatives.
- Monitoring compliance across all the Health and Safety functional areas and work proactively with the teams to embed a ‘Safety First’ culture.
- Refining and optimising the injury management process, and ensuring adherence and commitment across the business.
- Providing and/or coordinating health and safety training to employees at all levels including new hires or ongoing training of existing staff.
**Who are we looking for?**
You have an extensive background in Health & Safety management, ideally from within a manufacturing industry. You will be a key member of the company’s leadership team so need to be confident with communicating health and safety initiatives and strategy in a way that promoted buy-in from all staff.
You bring:
- A formal tertiary qualification in H&S and/or experience in a dedicated H&S role.
- An extensive background in H&S management (including incident investigation and risk assessment), ideally from within the manufacturing sector.
- New Zealand H&S compliance and legislation knowledge and a passion for H&S excellence.
- Highly developed communication skills and the ability to form relationships quickly and with ease.
- The ability to influence, coach, mentor and lead others.
- Strong planning, organisational and follow up skills.
- Exceptional time management, attention to detail and problem solving skills.
