Te Kura Aronukurangi | School of Earth and Environment has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in a research project, Building Resilience to future Earthquake Sequences.

The position is externally funded through an MBIE Endeavour Programme: "Ngā Ngāru Wakapuke: Building resilience to future earthquake sequences. We are seeking a dynamic researcher to contribute to the modelling of earthquakes and earthquake sequences using quasi-static and dynamic simulators (e.g., RSQSim, MCQsim and SeisSol). The researcher will utilise earthquake simulators to study active faulting and risk assessment for central New Zealand in the transition zone from Pacific plate subduction to Alpine fault continental collision.

UC's Earthquake, tectonics and seismic hazard groups are at the forefront of natural hazards and risk research in Aotearoa | New Zealand and internationally. Our researchers represent an array of disciplines and are united by their passion for innovative research. This project will be conducted in collaboration with Dr Camilla Penney, Dr Andy Howell and Professor Andy Nicol at UC. There will also be opportunities for close collaboration with earthquake researchers at GNS Science (Dr Matt Gerstenberger, Dr Duo Li) and internationally.
