Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Our Infrastructure Regulation branch is looking for two experienced Senior Analysts. These are permanent positions - one in our Transpower and Gas team and the other in our Electricity Distribution team, based in either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) or Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office.
From ensuring our critical infrastructure is resilient to natural disasters to achieving the transition to Net Zero - these roles will see you leading projects that tackle some of the biggest challenges facing Aotearoa New Zealand today. Join us in the Commerce Commission's Infrastructure Regulation Branch to be a part of a friendly, collaborative, and high-performing team that is focussed on your development and will empower you to have a real impact on businesses and consumers across the country.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
Our Infrastructure Regulation Branch is focussed on delivering long term benefits for consumers in the infrastructure markets that they regulate.
These two roles will see you working in the teams in the Branch that are responsible for regulating New Zealand's gas distribution, electricity distribution and electricity transmission businesses. The teams oversee important functions, such as preventing the regulated businesses from making excessive profits and ensuring that they have the right incentives to innovate and invest in the services that their consumers demand.
These busy and varied roles will see you work on multiple projects within multi-disciplinary teams made up of lawyers, economists and technical specialists. You'll gather and critically analyse information, identify key issues, draw logical conclusions and help present these back to our decision makers, the Commerce Commission's Commissioners.
He kōrero mōu | About you
A true team player, you'll be experienced working in a fast-paced environment and bring a proactive and solutions-focused approach. You'll be able to think, write and communicate clearly, offer sound critical thinking skills and be comfortable presenting to stakeholders at all levels.

**You will also bring the following**:

- the ability to prioritise, focus on high value outputs and resolve challenging problems
- relationship management skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- policy or regulatory experience
- the ability to understand accounting and economic principles and interpret legislation.

We know that a diverse team with a range of life and work experiences enables high performance and innovation. Your work experience might include:

- technical accounting analysis
- finance and capital budgeting
- financial audit
- economic or legal policy analysis
