Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Ko mātou tēnei | Who we are
Te Komihana Tauhokohoko | The Commerce Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.
The Commission is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by increases in its functions, duties and powers.
We are looking for Analysts and Senior Analysts to join our Telecommunications team which sits within our Market Regulation branch. This is a permanent opportunity in our Tāmaki Makaurau or Te Whanganui-a-Tara office.
Mō te tūranga | About the roles
The Telecommunications team is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the Telecommunications Act 2001 which regulates the supply of certain telecommunications services. The purpose of this regulation is to promote competition in telecommunications markets for the long-term benefit of end-users within New Zealand. The Telecommunications industry is a dynamic, interesting and exciting, fast-changing industry.
We are looking for Analysts and Senior Analysts with excellent insight and analysis skills to join the team. You will be comfortable initiating and reviewing consumer and market research, identifying trends and issues that need to be addressed and recommending regulatory solutions to those issues. This is a close-knit team where you'll be recognised for your input and advice. As a Senior Analyst, you would also be called upon to mentor and develop team members.
As part of the Telecommunications Team, you'll help to improve the service that NZ Telecommunication retailers provide to kiwis. You will help us monitor the market and make that information available to consumers in a way that informs their choices, as well as helping to set the “rules of the game” that providers operate under..
He kōrero mōu | About you
Experience working in a team environment you may have worked in the Telecommunication or similar industry in marketing, product management, research, regulatory or customer experience. You'll be proactive and solutions-focused and be able to analyse, generate insight and then communicate clearly. You will be inquisitive with sound critical thinking skills and be comfortable presenting to stakeholders at all levels.

**You will also have some of the following**:

- desire to improve telecommunications for New Zealand consumers
- the ability to prioritise, focus on high value outputs and resolve challenging problems
- Ability to create clear and concise presentations and reports
- experience in generating insight from consumer research or market analysis
- confident with analysing numerical data
- policy or regulatory experience, either directly or through working in a regulated industry.

A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. marketing, commerce, science, or statistics) would be an advantage but is not essential.
