Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga | About the opportunity
Our Supply Chain team has a wide-ranging work programme covering all aspects of the supply chain system whether that is shipping, air freight, rail or road freight. As the supply chain system is so broad, we get to touch on many areas that intersect with freight including economic strategy, international trade, production (eg. manufacturing and agriculture) and urban development.
As a Principal Adviser in the Supply Chain team, you'll lead projects that have a real impact on the lives of New Zealanders and speak to your work at meetings with Ministers or senior stakeholders. This includes developing and leading elements of the national freight & supply chain strategy and implementation plan, for example:

- A strategy for NZ's ports and coastal shipping
- International disruption preparedness and resilience
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Supply chain productivity and innovation
- Workforce capability
- Freight network optimisation
- Efficiency, data, and much more
- Supporting the Ministry's international engagement and representing the Ministry on global supply chain issues


Te wāhi ki a koe | What you'll bring
- Extensive experience in policy development and analysis in the public sector and a deep understanding of government policy making
- A proactive and energetic team approach and experience coaching and mentoring staff
- Demonstrated success building high-quality stakeholder relationships
- Proven written and verbal communication skills and effective influencing abilities
- Excellent organisational skills working towards deadlines
- Previous financial or investment exposure is advantageous

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
The salary range is $119,438 - $145,000 per annum. The appointed salary will reflect skills and experience.
