At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Principal Adviser is responsible for providing strategic advice and guidance relating to capability building of pedagogical assessment supports and resources alongside the implementation of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum. This role has a particular emphasis on the capability and pedagogy associated with assessment. They have a deep understanding of the teacher and leadership actions that promote student learning, progress and achievement. They have a significant role in the delivery of curriculum assessment tools and resources that support teaching, learning and assessment outcomes. They provide advice and guidance and practical solutions, about curriculum, teaching, assessment and learning pathways to support initiatives across years 1-13.

About Curriculum, Pathways & Progress
The role of the Curriculum, Pathways & Progress group is to set the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can achieve that for every child and student across school years 1 to 13. The group uses evidence and educational trends to design targeted solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all. The group co-designs and co‑develops innovative approaches to achieve policy intentions, plans successful implementation strategies and monitors to ensure a return on investment.
