The Department of Microbiology and Immunology undertakes both fundamental and applied research of international standard across many areas of microbiology, immunology and virology. We are also renowned for the quality of our teaching to Science and Health Science students, and for our strong postgraduate programme.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

As a Research Assistant in the Ireton lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, you will provide technical research for a project using genetic, biochemical, and microscopy-based approaches to characterise mechanisms by which the bacterial pathogen Listeria monocytogenes infects human cells.

**_Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- MSc or PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related fields.
- Successful research experience in molecular cloning.
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture and protein purification is also desirable.
