**What you will learn and contribute to**

**The prime purpose of this role is to ensure the following**:
The Optics Engineering Competence team have the capability and capacity on delivering on Projects involving,
- New Optics Product Introductions
- Design and Integration of Optics Network Elements and associated Network Management system into Customer’s Networks
- Product attached and non-product attached (professional services) relating to Optics technology

To be responsible, as the Competence lead, for the quality of Engineering delivery in country for Optics products and solutions.

In addition, the role requires leading the Optics Competence team to:

- Anticipates future skill and technology needs, identifies skill gaps within technology team, and defines the steps to close the gaps. Develops and executes training plans for Engineering team members in line with business requirements
- Supports and supervises resource allocation strategy (incl. ensuring engineering resources are assigned to projects in line with requirements and maximise utilisation and cost efficiencies) within the Competence team. Collaborates with regional Country/cluster peers to maximise utilisation of engineering resources across the APAC region.
- Supports the Project Review process with Project Management Groups (e.g. Delivery Management Reviews) and setup corrective action and risk mitigation plans to address technical issues that may arise.
- Delivery of Engineering services / outcomes in line with Global processes and KPIs (incl. follow-up, reporting, adherence, corrective actions)
- Support and reviews effort estimations, scope of works, technical risks associated in delivery of Engineering project and/or services delivery
- Interfaces with Network Readiness team and Product Units for new product introductions and liaise with respective Technical Support Manager pre and post project/product handover
- Supports the Product life-cycle management with local and global product management teams (e.g. EoL, Product Compliance)
- Engineering Competence team includes a subset (but not limited to), Solution and Domain Architects, Integration and Integration Test Professionals, Test Managers, Technical Project Managers, Network Element Integration Professional and Technical Support Engineers
- Acts as a mentor and coach and be influential in building teams by achieving consensus and support and support with Goal setting (KPI) for all Engineers within Engineering Competence team

**Your skills and experience**
**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent related experience in a technical field.
- Proven track record of leading and developing a highly skilled team of engineers.
- Strong skills in advocating and developing systems and processes that benefit the business.
- Knowledge of network products, tools, and processes.
- Five or more years of demonstrated experience in hands-on Network Design, Integration/Deployment, Technical Project Manager, technical support, or NPI/FOA.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:

- Knowledgeable in Network Management Systems
- Knowledgeable in networking concepts and Optics/ Transport related technologies.
- Hands-on experience including network planning, design, build, deploy, trouble-shooting & fault-finding, etc. is desirable
- Nokia Optics PSS & NMS
- Scripting and automation

**Technologies/Products**:

- Nokia Optics/ Transport and NMS portfolio - PSS 8/ 16/ 16 Type II/ 32
- NOKIA NMS
- Knowledge in other technologies such as SDN is an advantage
- Knowledge of Python and other scripting languages
