**What we're looking for**:
We are seeking a capable and motivated team member to undertake field and experimental work underpinning aquatic research, with a focus on freshwater environments. Existing scientific or occupational diving experience is essential, and a Certificate of Competency as an Occupational Diver is highly desirable. All work will be conducted according to NIWA's high standards of Health & Safety.
**What you will bring**:
- You will hold the minimum of a science certificate, diploma, or BSc, with an ecological focus being an advantage.
- The position requires that you can work effectively in a team environment and are self-organised.
- You need to be prepared to travel within New Zealand, be adaptive and willing to undertake some flexible hours within the working week.
- You will work closely with a team contributing science and management advice for aquatic ecology and biosecurity and will have the opportunity to work within multi-disciplinary teams across NIWA nationally, and collaboratively with a range of research partners or clients.
