  • You have completed or are working towards a tertiary degree in natural, physical or environmental sciences or a related discipline.
  • You are a team player with great communication.
  • Have a high level of selfmotivation and attention to detail.
  • You will have an interest in coastal ecology and water quality.
  • You have a strong focus on working safely outdoors and the ability to follow SOP's.
  • You have a full drivers licence.

Mō te tūranga | About the role:

  • Collect weekly water samples from various beaches and freshwater sites in the Waikato region.
  • Take field measurements of various water quality parameters with handheld instruments and maintaining the instruments.
  • Sort estuarine benthic macrofauna samples in the preparation room as per Regional Estuary Monitoring Programme standard operating protocols.
  • Assist environmental monitoring and science staff with other projects as they arise and associated field or office work.
  • Drive long distances (~600 km per week).
**This role is for five months, starting 6 November 2023 and ending 29 March 2024.
