The Whakapapa whānau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding region, some even third or fourth generation.

The Finance Business Partner is a crucial role in driving financial performance, strategic planning, and decision-making processes across the organisation. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting (including cash flow forecasting), month-end processing, team leadership (including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management), and oversight of procurement functions. The incumbent will be responsible for collaborating effectively with leaders throughout the business.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintain a thorough understanding of the organisation's financial landscape and analyse data to offer insights for optimising financial performance.
- Produce precise and timely financial reports for stakeholders, emphasizing key performance indicators and variance analysis, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve reporting processes and data accuracy, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations in annual financial reports.
- Direct the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, establish financial targets, allocate resources, develop detailed forecasts for strategic decision-making, and enhance cash flow projections to identify liquidity risks.
- Create and manage cash flow forecasting models to predict short and long-term liquidity requirements, integrating precise cash inflow/outflow data with treasury and operational teams, and analyse factors impacting cash flow to offer timely insights to management.
- Lead Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management functions, providing guidance for accurate transaction processing and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within the finance team.
- Collaborate with management to align financial goals with sourcing objectives, offering insights for procurement decision-making, implementing financial controls to optimise processes, and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
- Supervise month-end close for accurate and timely financial reporting, collaborating with accounting teams to reconcile accounts and address discrepancies.
- Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders by understanding their objectives, offering financial insights for decision-making, and collaborating with department heads to align financial goals with overall business objectives.
- Establish and maintain financial controls to protect assets and ensure regulatory compliance, while conducting routine reviews and risk assessments to offer improvement recommendations.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner or in a similar role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficient in financial modelling, budgeting software, and ERP systems
- Experience in cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and procurement functions
- Previous leadership experience in managing a finance team including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

This is a management role with a salary range between $90,000 - $110,000 per annum depending on experience.
