**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
Applications are invited for the position of **Research Technician in the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology.**
Working in a cellular and molecular biology lab, you will be involved in research projects focused on understanding the pathogenesis of diseases affecting joints such as gout and osteoarthritis.
You will be responsible for collecting and processing human tissue samples, optimising and performing laboratory assays and for training students and other group members in laboratory techniques.
You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratory including ordering of consumables and ensuring the laboratory remains compliant with HSNO, MPI and human ethics requirements.
The position is **Fulltime** (1.0FTE) (although reduced hours may be negotiable), **Fixed Term** for a period of 18 months based at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Grafton Campus. **Salary range is $58,300 - $72,700** dependent upon skills and experience.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**
You will have at least 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in an academic setting. You will have well-established expertise in cell culture, real time RT-qPCR, western blotting and ELISA and considerable experience training staff and students in laboratory techniques.
To be successful you will also have the following:
- a demonstrable track record in developing and optimising new techniques.
- A good working knowledge of lab health and safety and MPI requirements.
