New Zealand Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Full time

**Contribute to transforming the future of health**:

- **Fixed-Term (12 months) / Full Time**

Join Te Whatu Ora at a key time, where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred health system. This mahi will improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

This role will support the development and implementation of a professional development programme for the commissioning function within Health New Zealand. This will include:

- Work closely with commissioning teams and People and Communications teams to establish a capability framework for commissioning.
- Support the development of the associated key competencies related to the agreed set of commissioning capabilities.
- Support the establishment of a professional development programme that covers both universal professional development capabilities, as well as technical capabilities.
- Contribute to sourcing the professional development programmes through both internal and external means.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- Demonstrated experience in managing a range of competing programme priorities using programme management methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting professional development programmes.
- Experience driving & delivery of work programmes and project planning to ensure delivery of work on time, and within budget.
- Experience ensuring sound governance of the programme and best practice underpinning priorities and deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders
- The ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships at a senior level.

**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, which will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa for generations.

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures improved access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.

**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**

**Me pēhea te tuku tono | How to apply.
