**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
As the Head of Platforms, we look to you to build and lead a high-performing team entrusted with managing platforms, IaaS, networks, and related functions. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, while also managing staffing, training, and the professional development of technical resources within the department.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

- Overseeing DevOps practices for all platform and infrastructure engineers, you will advocate for Infrastructure Engineering practices, automation, and advanced techniques.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of ICT Strategy & Architecture, you will define and drive the strategic direction for the ICT Platforms department, providing expert guidance on technology adoption and integration in consultation with business leaders and architecture teams.
- Ensure alignment of technology operations with organizational and ICT strategy, maintaining platform fitness, availability, optimization, and security, and managing our platform and infrastructure technologies' lifecycle.
- Embed and maintain infrastructure monitoring tools, prioritize cybersecurity measures to safeguard Council's platforms and data, and manage our budget in accordance with agreed parameters and organizational policies.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership and people management skills, coupled with a demonstrated ability to solve complex problems at an elevated level. You should ideally have strong organizational capabilities, adept at managing multiple projects concurrently, and exhibit a drive to achieve outcomes while empowering team members to leverage resources properly.

A commitment to continuous learning is imperative plus a bachelor’s degree in business management, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (with postgraduate qualifications preferred), and a minimum of 15 years of experience in tech or similar environments.

This is a Senior Leadership role and as such we are looking for a seasoned leader with at least 10 years of experience in managing large teams, preferably within political or complex organizations, and demonstrate proficiency in disciplined budget management, as well as a comprehensive understanding of local government operations and statutory requirements.
