**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for a **Research Communications Adviser** to join the University’s Central Communications team, to develop and communicate the value, relevance, and excellence of the University’s research to public audiences, key stakeholders and media in alignment with Taumata Teitei, the University’s Vision 2030 and Strategic Plan 2025.

You will be working collaboratively with institute researchers and Large-Scale Research Institute (ABI and Liggins) communications staff to identify and develop story ideas for public audiences that will enhance the University’s research reputation. You will be responsible for identifying key experts who are able to offer expertise, analysis and commentary on major and persistent societal challenges.

This role involves working cross functionally with the central media adviser team, University research centres and faculty research centres to identify research initiatives and expertise relevant to public audiences and key stakeholders. You will be working with the Research Communications Manager to support research communications strategy initiatives.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), **permanent** opportunity.
The remuneration for this role is $78,500 - $97,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Suitable Tertiary Qualification such as Communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
- 5-10 years’ experience as a senior journalist or communications professional, with an eye for a good story and track record in researching and writing long form content.
- Strong, versatile writing skills and an ability to tailor writing styles to different channels.
- Experience writing for web and digital channels.
- Excellent writing, proofreading and fact-checking skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
