**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**

Reporting to the Community Risk Manager, the Senior Advisor Risk Reduction will provide risk reduction advice and expertise to support communities across Tairawhiti.

You will work across natural and built environments to support risk reduction activities.

Key Accountabilities
- Coaching, mentoring, and supporting Advisors within the team to build their technical expertise and capability and providing them with opportunities to broaden their experience.
- Undertaking the delivery of a full range of risk reduction, compliance and enforcement activities and functions.
- Undertaking fire control functions such as assisting with fire hazard assessments and advice, fire permitting activities, and providing advice internally to key stakeholders, partners, and the community.
- Work collaboratively across the Community Risk team to ensure communities have consistent approaches across the community risk functions, i.e., in the delivery of tools, programmes, compliance/enforcement activity and advice they receive.

**Ko tāu nā ki tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role**
- A commitment to work with Māori as tangata whenua and have experience working with hapu, iwi, Māori entities/organisations and other diverse communities of Tairawhiti.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external staff and stakeholders
- You will have experience and be comfortable working with and communicating complex and technical information to diverse backgrounds
- You will know how to strategically think with the ability to negotiate, problem solve and focus on solutions to get the best outcomes for all parties.
- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
- An ability to multi-task with good time management skills while being able to maintain flexibility and adaptiveness.
- A strong ability to plan, organise, and prioritise, knowing exactly what is needed and by when.
