At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**:
The Lead Adviser provides a te ao Māori lens on concurrent programmes. They lead design and development of curriculum, teaching, and learning initiatives for senior secondary education to support a smooth transition to further education and the world of work.

The Lead Adviser has a focus on the design and delivery of curriculum and assessment content. Lead Advisers ensure the content will enable equitable student achievement is maintained by providing thought leadership and guidance in English and kaupapa Māori, Māori medium education. They ensure best practice pedagogy is used to inform initiative design, development, and delivery.

This Wellington based role is fixed term until 30 June 2025.

**Mōhou ake | About you**:
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

You will also have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification or other relevant discipline is desirable (post-graduate preferred)
- A level of fluency in Te Reo Māori
- Experience working within project environments
- A track record of bringing people together and leading, coaching and mentoring others to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passionate, independent and motivated.
- Understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and their implications on operational policy within the education sector, the significance of identity, language and culture and the machinery of government.
