Do you have a strong desire to create a positive impact in the international education industry? An outstanding opportunity awaits you as a Lead Education Adviser, where you can assist New Zealand's International Development Cooperation in accomplishing educational and training development objectives in the Pacific region and globally.

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Adviser with a background in leading strategy and/or policy development primarily within the education sector. Experience in Pacific/international development is strongly preferred.

**About the role**:
New Zealand's IDC (International Development Cooperation) is Aotearoa’s official development assistance programme, which aims to reduce poverty and encourage sustainability in developing countries. The education initiatives play a vital role in providing people with the necessary skills, knowledge, and values to succeed in an evolving world.

As Lead Education Adviser, your responsibilities will include:

- addressing policy matters and concerns regarding education, gender, child and youth well-being, and human rights. There is a significant emphasis on supporting and investing in these areas within the Pacific region
- providing policy leadership and input on various aspects of education and training to guide New Zealand's IDC in the education and training sectors
- coordinate with partners domestically, within the Pacific region, and globally to promote high-quality and equitable learning pathways from early childhood education through to tertiary education
- provide leadership and direction to other education advisers within the unit, and technical support to internal sector and bilateral teams.

**We are seeking**:

- excellent interpersonal and stakeholder relationship skills through effective collaboration with a diverse range of colleagues and partners, with the ability to influence where required
- experience providing expertise and engagement at a senior level across a range of education-related issues
- proven experience identifying or developing strategies and initiatives
- experience working in project/programme management and successfully delivering results
- experience working in an international setting and a strong understanding of development issues and practices
- knowledge of the education sector is essential, with experience in Pacific and international development or education policies/frameworks strongly preferred.

**Eligibility**:
You must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident and able to obtain and maintain an appropriate NZ Government Security clearance.

This role is based in Wellington, New Zealand.
