**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role**
We are looking for a high-calibre **Principal Advisor or experienced Senior Analyst** to lead the development of practical policy advice to support the Māori economy to thrive and improve social and economic outcomes for Māori, both in response to challenges from COVID-19 and the longer term.
Reporting to the manager of the Economic Performance Team, you will work across the Economic Strategy Directorate, Puna Aronui, (a network of analysts across the Treasury with capability in Te Ao Māori and Pacific perspectives), economic agencies and directly in te ao Māori.
In this role you will:
- Lead Te Tai Ōhanga's Māori economic development work programme, which includes deepening our analytical evidence base on the Maori economy and how to support it to thrive
- Embed the Māori economy into our advice about improving New Zealand's economic performance.
- Lead our engagement on key Māori economic development policy underway across the public sector
Support and influence economic and regulatory strategy projects so that they consider how to improve the performance of the Māori economy.
- Improve Treasury's capability to consider te ao Māori in our work, including through improving our external networks and assisting others to meaningfully engage with Māori using appropriate tikanga
This role does not have line management responsibility. However, you will be responsible for the delivery of your work programme and help support the work and development of other members of the team.
