The Office of the Deputy Secretary Policy is tasked with leading the setting of outcomes, and performance of the Policy Group. We provide high level strategic advice and insights, ensuring effective business planning and governance, performance reporting, process improvement, quality of policy advice and the executive machinery of government functions required within a large, complex government agency.
**Te Haeata/The Opportunity**
The roles of the Principal and Senior Advisors Quality and Capability are two newly established roles, that will bring together existing quality and capability practices and processes under the Office of the Deputy Secretary Policy as well as affording the opportunity for you to bring your experience and values to set strategy and direction for this function and further enhance the performance of our team.
You will be responsible for the intellectual leadership for quality and capability functions, enabling the development and delivery of high-quality analysis, advice, and alignment against agreed strategic priorities to senior leaders across the group and broader ministry.
**Ko ake mahi - What you will do**
Your previous depth and breadth of experience in quality assurance and capability measures, will enable you to make quick work of gripping up our group's quality assurance and capability strategies.
The ability to collaborate and lead with influence, are skills that come naturally to you, as you partner with our senior leaders and their teams to build and deliver our quality and capability workstreams. There will be actionable and measurable outcomes relevant to our overall group strategy.
You will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of a group-wide Quality & Capability Frameworks, including the review and assurance practices and continuous improvement of systems and processes associated with this function.
These are 'doing' roles and will suit someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into broader work across the team if required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Excellent planning, and written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to work with ambiguity and to move quickly in a dynamic environment
- To be outcomes focused, and prepared to get stuck in to achieve desired outcomes
- Strong and collaborative stakeholder management skills
- A well-rounded understanding of both strategy and operational priorities
- High degree of proficiency in the use of digital tools and platforms to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes, enabling real-time insights and actionable intelligence for improvements
- Experience setting short-, medium
- and long-term quality and capability performance measures

The appointing salary for the **Senior Advisor** will be between $110,766 to $143,388 based on skills and experience.
The appointing salary for the **Principal Advisor** will be between $128,129 to $166,062 based on skills and experience.
