If so, you may be just the person we are looking for to take up a newly created role that will drive strategic shifts that contribute to New Zealand's national security.
Mō te tūranga mahi - about the role
As the Principal Advisor, Strategy, you will be at the centre of enabling the GCSB to achieve its strategic outcomes. You will build relationships and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the GCSB, in our partner agency, the NZSIS, and across the wider National Security Community.

**We are looking for an experienced principal advisor to**:

- Play a lead role across the agency enabling delivery against the GCSB's strategy
- Support our senior leaders to govern and own the strategic direction
- Shape new approaches to organisational strategy, how we deliver against it, and how we know it is successful in driving change
- Bring the organisation along with the strategic shifts and support them to see their role in our strategy
- Bring strong analytical, strategic and problem solving skills
- Work collaboratively within and across agencies to deliver results

Ko wai koe - about you
As an experienced practitioner in strategy or governance, you will have a sound understanding of the role of strategy in driving change, an ability to both grapple with detail and see the big picture, and a toolkit that will equip you to support the agency to deliver.
You will have excellent judgement, problem solving and communication skills, and a focus on building collaborative and effective relationships. Previous experience working with or within the Intelligence Community, or experience within the national security sector, is a bonus, but not a requirement.
We work in a highly collaborative environment where you will be empowered to lead, supported to deliver and the focus will be on ensuring you are able to bring your whole self to the role.
To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
