**He angitūtanga** | About the role**

The Department's Asset Planners play a critical role in establishing long-term maintenance programmes and advising on monthly work planning with Rangers. They advise on the Department's management of visitor safety and provision of consistent, quality recreation experiences. You will provide analysis on work capacity and work delivery for Operations in the Eastern South Island (e.g. Canterbury).

As one of two Asset Planners in the Eastern South Island, you will be a key member of the Planning & Services team.

The position will be focussed on:

- developing and maintaining the Asset Management Information System for recreational, historic and biodiversity work programmes across the Region's districts
- ensuring accurate information of the status of assets and work completed
- supporting district staff to schedule work within the asset management tool
- using the Department's Asset Management Information System to provide quality analysis and reports for decision-making
- assisting with the development of annual business plans
- taking on other conservation projects aligned to your skills and interests as needs arise.

The ideal applicant will have Asset Planning experience or be skilled at managing computer-based information management systems and they will have a connection to the purpose of the Department and conservation.

The successful applicant will have:

- an understanding of asset/work management principles, practices, and systems
- a proven ability to manage and analyse data to identify risk and provide quality assurance
- good interpersonal, communication, and team membership skills
- the ability to plan and organise work and resources over a programme of work to meet timeframes.

An understanding of capital assets and operational budget management is desirable. Experience with SAP or similar asset management systems is desired. A good knowledge of the facilities used within the recreation industry and knowledge of construction principles would also be advantageous.

**Mō te tīma** | About the team**

The appointee will join our DOC Operations Planning whānau based in Christchurch and supporting Operations in the whole of DOC's Eastern South Island. This team has two Biodiversity Planners, a Recreation Planner, a Treaty Partnership & Community Planner, another Asset/Maintenance Planners, two Inspectors, and two Works Officers.

This is largely an office-based role; however, you will need to meet with teams in our district offices on a regular basis (Aoraki Mount Cook, Twizel, Geraldine, Sockburn and Rangiora). Good communication and team skills are essential to quality relationships with District staff.

The salary range for this position is $62,535 to $79,906 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
