We’re looking for someone who is working toward or completed of a degree in natural, biological, physical, or environmental sciences or related discipline. Experience in data collation and analysis, undertaking ecological surveys and organising fieldwork.

**Mō te tangata |About you**:

- The successful applicant will be working in the Biosecurity Pest Plant and Biodiversity teams.
- The ability to work with others is critical.
- Excellent communication skills - students will be required to talk to landowners, community groups and key stakeholders.
- Physically fit: able to work full days in challenging field work.
- Attention to detail - high degree of accuracy when undertaking tasks.
- Plant identification skills.
- Be able to stay away overnight for work from time to time.
- Planning of day-to-day activities with assistance from Biodiversity Site Team Lead and work/ project leads.
- Strong skills in data management.
- Comfortable with herbicide use.
- Be able to swim confidently 200m.
- Full NZ drivers licence High level of computer skills including Microsoft products.
- Also desirable is knowledge of, or passion for, indigenous and / or exotic flora.

**Mō te tūranga **| **About the role**:
**The work will include data management, field surveying, monitoring, and pest plant control. The role will include periods out in the field and in the office undertaking the data management component.**

**Biosecurity pest plants.**
- **Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping of wilding pine.**:

- **Surveillance for low incidence, high threat pest plants species e.g., delimiting work.**:

- **Data collection of species that have pest plant programmes.**:

- **Data cleaning to assist with pest plant management.**:

- **Kauri dieback support - field and GIS support**

**_Biodiversity _**
- **_Data analysis of grants and recipients of biodiversity funding. _**:

- **_Data collation to inform priority settings for the Biodiversity Sites programme. _**:

- **_Monitoring and collection of field data to inform the Coastcare programme. _**:

- **_Field support at priority biodiversity and Coastcare sites. _**

**_This role is for three months, starting in early-mid November 2023 and ending in February 2023._
