The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) manages a unique network of tracks, structures, and huts that provide access and shelter in New Zealand's Great Outdoors.

**He angitūtanga | About the Role**

As an Engineer, you will carry out asset inspections, design upgrades and new structures and monitor construction projects. Structures range from boardwalks and viewing platforms to long-span suspension bridges. You will provide general engineering advice and staff asset inspector training.

We are flexible on location - you could be based in Hamilton, Wellington, Whakatane, Taupo, Napier or Gisborne. There will be occasional travel across the region and across the country.

- A structural engineering design background, with some exposure to cable-structure and bridge engineering.
- At least five years' experience as a New Zealand Chartered Professional Structural Engineer.
- AutoCad and Microstran or Spacegas proficiency.
- Experience in New Zealand's backcountry and a high level of fitness.
- An affinity with DOC's work and how it contributes to New Zealand's future sustainability.

The salary range for this position is from $104,412 to $140,117 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
