This role assists Newshub producers & the studio director as quality control to produce clean to air Newshub outputs, focusing on technical accuracy, live show timing, and graphic creation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To act as overall quality control by assisting directors and producers in producing clean to air Newshub outputs, to their desires and specifications.
- Ensure the rundown is technically accurate for everyone to be able to read clearly.
- Checking all vision and graphics are correct to help achieve a clean to air product.
- Providing the clear link in communication to all departments with changes to Newshub daily shows.
- Mastering new technology involved with the Director’s Assistant role and production of Newshub programmes.
- Working with the producers to create the on air programme rundown that is technically and script accurate.
- Communication - Keeping the necessary people informed of changes to the shows and impacts on their roles throughout the newsroom.
- Timing accuracy - managing the timings and requirements for show delivery and on air expectations.
- Inserting and checking graphics. Checking spelling, durations and times.
- Being across programme changes and communicating these to the necessary people.
- Assisting the Studio Director with the live to air programme involving: the timing of events, addition of new stories.
- Working with producers to have the rundown correct and suitable.
- Liaising with non Newshub departments for their support/help in improving Newshub.
- Managing music returns and our commercial expectations as a broadcaster.
- The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
- Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
- Other duties as required.
- The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.

**Qualities Required**:

- Ability to work as part of a team in both the newsroom and on air environment.
- Ability to remain calm in live to air situations when under time pressure.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including excellent spelling and grammar.
- High level of computer literacy, keyboard proficiency and confidence in learning new technology.
- Good general knowledge of news and current affairs.
- The ability to respond to an ever changing working environment, evolving with Newshub demands.
- To work unsupervised and as part of a team with excellent workflow and time management skills.
- A strong competitive drive to beat our opposition constantly
- Able to cope with varied and, when necessary, long working hours.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with the directors, producers, reporters and peers.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner in all working situations.
- Have regard for the requirements of the Broadcasting Act, the laws relating to libel, defamation and the invasion of privacy.
