Our opportunity
As a senior leader within the Field Sales Leadership team, you will play a key role in leading the strategic direction of the wider Merchandising team, ensuring operational excellence and best in class field execution. You will manage, lead & coach a team of four Field Merchandising Managers, and an indirect team of twenty Field Merchandising Supervisors and circa 270 Sales Merchandisers.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Own field execution in all Foodstuffs and WWNZ Supermarkets across New Zealand (476 stores)
- Promote best in class store execution & develop initiatives to drive volume growth and achieve targets
- Ensure communication & requests from functions are clear and consistent to result in improved execution
- Drive salesforce adoption, call cycle completion, on time activations
- Build relationships with senior management in supermarket operational teams, trouble shoot issues, cascade key information to teams
- Support wider merchandising team with customer escalation process
- Work with the team on any changes/improvements to ensure quality service levels are met
- Build and own bottom-up Merchandising Budget (circa $20m)
- Allocate merchandising spend ensuring optimisation of spend and reallocating on service-based sales volumes
- Motivate & drive team performance through provision of direction and vision for the team
- Ensure right structure to drive optimal return, quality service levels
- Implement and review KPI's / big rocks / incentive targets to suit changing business needs
- Empowering team to make decisions
- Celebrate and share success and recognition

About You
- Proven experience leading a large field sales / remote operational team
- Ownership of a cost centre budget & its financial results
- Strategic and commercial agility ideally with grocery experience
- Technical and strategic competency with financials (exposure to end-to-end P&L)
- Experience in grocery, retail or FMCG and/or an understanding of merchandising
- A growth mindset
