**About WEL Networks**

With around 300 employees, owned by and working for the community, WEL Networks has been serving the Waikato for 100 years, distributing power from the national grid, connecting over 160,000 people to electricity services.

Based in Hamilton, we play an essential role in the region's economic and social development by identifying and investing in new technologies that will modernise our network and future-proof our region. We’re excited to be broadening our horizons as we diversify from a traditional lines company into a multi-utility.

As the world is going through a period of significant change and adjusting to a new normal, so too is WEL Networks. With the energy landscape changing at pace, through the acceleration of Electrification, Solar, Batteries, and EVs driving changing customer expectations, we are focussing now more than ever on unlocking our energy potential and realising our vision: to create and support an innovative and sustainable energy future.

We are looking for skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team in supporting the company through this exciting new chapter and into the future.

Although this is a Senior role, we are open to recruiting fantastic Juniors who fit the criteria. As a Senior/Network Planning Engineer, you will lead the production of the Asset Management Plan (AMP) and the Annual Work Plan, while supporting the alignment of existing and expected levels and network security, reliability, and power quality with relevant WEL standards.

Keeping an eye on what is happening outside of WEL, in Councils, Generators, Regulators, Transpower and other EDBs will be important in providing an added future focus on network planning and impacts.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead the development and optimisation of the network development plan considering security, reliability, resilience, and costs
- Support the establishment of network architecture policies and standards
- Develop and update long term load forecasting models
- Assess Smart Meter data to proactively address voltage excursions

- Provide engineering/planning information to consultants for detailed design requirements
- Help in the development of tools tools and processes to enable WELs Journey to ISO 55000 certification.

**Skills and experience**

Along with a recognised Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BE) or an equivalent qualification, we are looking for someone who brings us:

- A minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience. Experience in Electricity Distribution Networks is desirable
- CPEng qualification is desirable

At WEL, we look after our people - from full medical, life and income protection insurance cover, and a variety of flexible working options, to the safest equipment and plenty of upskilling opportunities. We will also help you with relocation expenses when moving into the Waikato.

We are committed to making sure our people go home safe every day, and with a drug and alcohol-free worksite we will require you to undertake testing as part of your pre-employment health assessment as well as participating in our annual health assessment programme.
